Favorite dishes include the oven-roasted chicken (dressed appropriately for the season the heirloom tomato salad, with fresh Aquidneck Island tomatoes and corn and the pan-fried crab cake. Within the Clarke Cooke House are the legendary Candy Store Bar, the elegant Porch and SkyBar, Summer Sushi, and Boom Boom Room, all within steps of Newport Harbor. Since opening, it has been the gathering spot and watering hole for yacht crews, both domestic and international travelers, and Newport locals. The 250-year-old building belonged to Colonial-era merchant Clarke Cooke, hence the restaurant’s moniker. The Clarke Cooke House has been around since 1972. Service is fast and friendly, and there is both indoor and outdoor seating.
Popular dishes include the Oh My Omelet, which is served with asparagus, potato, sausage, mozzarella, and panini toast and the The Newporter, which includes two eggs with cheddar cheese toasted on a Portuguese roll (you can add smoked bacon or sausage).
For breakfast, the Cru cafe is a local favorite.
